Back in the day, when we were little, we looked up to the biggest boys in the class. With the most powerful diesel-X5, we experience déjà vu. It wasn't fair. When we were eleven, we had nothing. Spindly legs, a squeaky voice and a fake branded cap that made us laugh. This X5 with the heaviest diesel engine stands alone. The explosive intermediate accelerations one experiences in more compact BMWs with this kind of engine are absent in the X5. The car is simply too heavy and cumbersome. All the more surprising when you see the needle of the speedometer rise like that of a pair of scales when you step on it. This beast of a car is able - how, may I ask, is a mystery - to make itself nimble. It is extremely smooth, but in a civilized, almost imperceptible way. I can't think of a better driving all-round SUV at the moment. Our specimen is in clean condition and dealer maintained. Other than some stone chips on bumper and hood, the car looks fantastic.
