The Mercedes SL range has been around for a long time. The name means "Super Light" and a Mercedes SL is always a two-seater roadster. The Mercedes W113 series of cars includes the 230SL, ( 1963-1967), the short-lived 250SL (1967) and the 280SL (1968-1971).Mercedes produced from 48,912 examples of this type and about 40% of these Mercedes convertibles were sold in America. The Mercedes SL was available with a hardtop that was concave, hence the name Pagoda. This type came with six-cylinder engines ranging from 2.3 liters to eventually 2.8 liters. Hardtop was an option and these cars were available with automatic or manual transmissions.

Of the W113 series, the 280 SL equipped with the 2.8-liter six-cylinder engine (170hp) is the most sought-after model. It offers an excellent mix of handling, refinement and comfort. The "Pagoda" is a prized classic among car enthusiasts due to its timeless appearance and historical significance in the automotive world
Exterior: This Mercedes 280 SL for sale here is from 1971 and is presented in a beautiful color combination gray metallic with black soft top and interior. The paintwork looks good with some minor signs of use. The bodywork is rust free and sound. All exterior chrome details are very nice and all panels on the car fit very well. This is an American version that was brought to the Netherlands by the current owner in 2020. The black cloth hood is close tight.

Interior: black was a typical color for this period and this Mercedes 280SL looks very elegant with black carpets and seats. The instruments all look nice and are fully functional. In the trunk you will find the (original?) spare tire and the jack. This vintage Mercedes 280 SL for sale comes with an original hardtop in the same color as the car. Original becker radio. The MOT is valid until 25-08-2025
